Newly Appointed Chief Executive Officer

The Outer East Football Netball Competitions Limited would like to introduce our newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, Mr Brett Connell, Brett will commence 24^th January 2023.

Brett is excited to work with the member clubs and stakeholders across Outer East to continue to enhance the great work already done by past and present employees. Mr Connell stated that he cannot wait to get to started.  “It is a privilege to be working as part of a great ‘community’ football / netball league, in a region that I respect. I look forward to working with everyone across the Outer East community in ensuring the competition continues to grow from strength to strength”.

Brett comes to the role following five years as the CEO at Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), with past roles at the VCFL and AFL Victoria spanning 30 years of high-level administration.  Brett is well known for his commitment to football and netball games.  Brett brings to the role a strong playing, teaching (leadership) and administration background, with club development and strategic planning in particular a strength of his.

The Outer East Football Netball Competitions Limited Board believes Brett’s experience, passion and knowledge of our region will assist our competition with expansion for the viable growth of our game into the future. Our strategic plan will be his focus, to ensure we continue to grow and prosper. Having played football at senior level, as well as holding various roles in executive positions at community organisations, Brett’s understanding of community sport in the region will be crucial in achieving this.

We see these changes as exciting times for our competitions. We are looking at a review of all current structures, procedures and operations to make our community as effective as possible for all stakeholders, members, volunteers, players and supporters alike going forward.

Outer East Chair Tony Mitchell advised, through a stringent assessment process over the past couple of months and with some high quality applicants, we felt Brett was the best fit for our competition as Brett comes highly respected and with a wealth of knowledge second to none.
