Throughout the 2019 Eastern Region Women’s Outer East Division season, Healesville have been the team to beat, having a debut season to remember.
The season started with a 62 point win over Thornton-Eildon, and was followed by a 26 point win over Belgrave. The next two rounds saw wins over Yarra Junction and Upwey Tecoma, while round five saw the smallest win of the year, a seven point win over Belgrave.
Round six saw the battle of the undefeated sides, with Healesville getting the chocolates over Monbulk. Round seven saw the biggest win of the season for Healesville, a 97 point win over Thornton-Eildon, and last weekend Healesville defeated Yarra Junction by 50 points.
This leaves them on top of the ladder, with a percentage that is more than double that of 2nd placed Monbulk. Finals are definitely on the cards for the Bloods, as they have not really looked like losing a game all year and they have a very healthy percentage.
Unlike the other teams, there is no pattern to look out for Healesville’s wins and losses, because there are obviously no losses. What the other teams in the Outer East Division can take note of is that Healesville’s three smallest victory margins came in games where their quarter time score was less than 10 points.
On an individual note, Danielle Carrucan and Jaimee Petersen have been the top goalkickers for Healesville so far this season, kicking 13 and 12 goals respectively. The highest individual game tally was Carrucan’s five goals against Yarra Junction in round seven. Some players that have consistently been named in the best players list include Alexandra Bryan, Carrucan, Kira Maass and Rebecca Collins.
