Warburton–Millgrove puts community safety first for TAC round.
Warburton-Millgrove Football Netball Club placed the community safety and awareness at the front and centre earlier this season, taking part in the Outer East’s TAC round.
The annual round provided clubs across the Outer East’s competition with the opportunity to promote the importance of safe driving and encourage their communities to make responsible choices on the road.
For Warburton-Millgrove that message was extended far beyond game day with the club utilising its social media platform to help spread the TAC round message, creating awareness among the players, supporters and its community. Through content posted on their social media, Warburton-Millgrove illustrated the importance of road safety ensuring the message reached an audience that went beyond the playing field.
Social media has become a crucial aspect for local community sporting clubs, assisting them to communicate directly to their members whilst also giving them a platform to support initiatives such as TAC. Warburton-Millgrove’s involvement in TAC round showed how a local sporting club can use its reach to promote a vital message to its community.

For the players and volunteers involved with the club, it signalled an opportunity to reflect on the responsibilities that come with being part of a community sporting organisation. Whilst the focus of a football and netball club is usually centred around competition, TAC round has offered Warburton-Millgrove the chance to use its online content to remind its community that making safe choices on the road can have a lasting impact.
The club’s use of its social media platform played a crucial role in delivering that message and creating conversation that goes beyond the boundary lines.
TAC Round ultimately provided Warburton-Millgrove with an opportunity to combine football, netball and community engagement, using the club’s voice to promote a message that remains important to everyone who uses Victoria’s roads.
