AFL YARRA RANGES ANNOUNCE NEW MEDIA MANAGER FOR 2019
The AFL Yarra Ranges is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Fotia as Media Manager.
This move comes as the league begins to continue its expansion, with the onset of a new look AFL Yarra Ranges competition in 2019.
Matthew has a Bachelor of Media and Communication from the Australian Catholic University and has a wealth of experience in sport media, having written for Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, news.com.au and The New Daily.
“We are looking to improve the promotion, communication and community engagement of our clubs, players and the region. We have fantastic competition, football and netball and it is important we improve the way we sell our story. We want to highlight the fantastic work being done across our clubs and communities.,” Region General Manager, Aaron Bailey said.
“The appointment of Matt is a key step in this process. We have a strong desire to grow and build our presence across the region. Key early focuses for Matthew will include growing the radio broadcast, improving promotion of partners and key stakeholders and engaging new audiences through an increased social media presence. Matthew’s appointment is the first of three key appointments for the region, as we transition move into our new structure in 2019.”
Matthew’s most recent work in the football landscape has been with the Eastern Football League where he has been a part of their media team for the past two seasons as a play by play commentator, boundary rider, weekly columnist and radio show host.
Matthew brings with him extensive experience within the sporting landscape, currently playing Premier Cricket for Ringwood. Matthew, a Victorian and Australian representative at Under Age level was recently announced as a member of the Futures Squad for the Victorian Cricket Team.
Matthew will commence in September, as part of the Division 1 and 2 Grand Final coverage.
