ERCA- Coach of The Month- May 2018
Congratulations to the below coaches who have been recognised for their efforts.
Rob Thompson – Olinda Ferny Creek- Auskick Coach
Rob’s experience in football has been invaluable for our kids with Rob demonstrating his ability to pass on his knowledge. His also has taken it upon himself to learn the rules to umpire grid games including under 9 games.
Robs enthusiasm enables him to not only explain methods he can also demonstrate them.
Rob has introduced the new Auskick 2.0 program this year with great success, which has allowed the kids to have had a great experience with their Auskick.
The Auskickers love Rob as their coaches and the respect they all show Rob is evident.
Mark Gerencser – Gembrook Cockatoo Junior Football Club – Junior Coach
Mark has now been coaching junior footballers at the GCFNC for 6 years now. His understanding of the game, his great communication skills with the players and his extreme commitment level to his players. Mark has held the position of Coaches Co-ordinator and uses his knowledge to help develop new coaches to the club. His knowledge and understanding has seen him being asked to become an Under 15’s assistant coach for the AFL Yarra interleague side.
Mark is a very active and organised person that has a plan for each training session. He makes notes after each game and uses that to plan his training for the week. He makes sure that every training has a fitness element, a skills development a game simulation drills.
Mark is a very well-respected coach and person of the football club. He has the respect of all as he shows respect to everyone. Through his commitment to the club and his passion for contributing to players lives not just through football, Mark is looked on as a role model with in the football club.
Dean Hunter – Belgrave Junior Football Club -Female Coach
The Under 14 girls have been short on numbers all year so training drills have not been easy to coordinate. Dean has persisted with the skills and results are paying culminating in their first win.
Dean is clear and concise in his message. He is very well organised and has team goals and rules on show for the girls.
Now in his 2nd year of coaching, Dean is getting more confidence in his role and clearer in what he wants the girls to achieve.
|Dean is well like by all the players and parents. Together with his support team he has organised social activities for the girls including MCG visit, 1000 steps etc to create a wonderful team spirit. This is just one reason why the numbers have slowly increased and they are achieving more success. Word is getting around what a great place it is to beat.|
Jake Matthews – Woori Yallock Football Netball Club – Youth Coach
Jake has done amazing job in building a competitive Un,18’s team for Woori Yallock this year.
As a senior player at Woori Yallock Jake commits many hours to the football club to provide a connection from the Under 18’s through to the Seniors. Which is evident with 6 players from his un,18’s team have played senior football so far this year.
Jake is a fantastic person around the club which we believe the hard work he is putting in now will have a continuing effect on our club for many more years to come.
Leigh Thompson – Yarra Glen Football Netball Club – Senior Coach
Leigh was a late appointment (Jan/Feb) and immediately introduced a new game plan that has been quickly learnt by the group.
Players have as a group all embraced what Leigh is saying and his clear communication is evidence of this.
New training drills have been implemented to develop handball and kicking skills
As a new coach coming into the job after the previous coach had to stand down due to the change in work commitments, Leigh immediately commander the respect of the players and officials.
At the time Leigh started the numbers were low. With the high recommendations from the players to those not training, the club has been able to get many more down to the club to play. Numbers have increased from the low 20’s into the 40’s.
Leigh continues to be a valuable part of the Yarra Glen Football/Netball club and we are looking forward to seeing the development of our players under Leigh.
